Even minor stress has an impact on a person’s ability to control himself. A team of scientists from the University of new York conducted an in-depth study of this issue.
The participants were divided into two groups: control and stress. As you know, the stress level can be read, defining the indicators of cortisol which the body produces as a reaction to stress.
Participants in both groups were acquainted with shocking images. As shown by the results of the study, participants in the control group felt less fear and better control of their emotions compared with those who had recorded a high level of cortisol.
The authors explain the obtained results from the point of view of psychology – the greater the stress subjected to the person, the harder it is to focus and get your emotions under control. While relaxation techniques stress is much less effective than under normal conditions.
However, the constant practice of relaxation can greatly ease the stress and make it easier for you to control your emotions even in the most difficult situations, scientists believe.
