Employees of the University of Arizona analyzed data from 5786 people older than 50 years. Of these, 926 were divorced and have not found a new second half. Experts noticed that the risk of premature death was significantly higher among single people who have experienced divorce. In addition, these people were more likely to report dissatisfaction with life.
The researchers also noted that among the divorced there were a lot of smokers and few people pay sufficient amount of time to exercise. All this contributed to the increased risk of premature death.
