Psoriasis according to scientists associated with inflammatory processes in the body. To deal with them, effectively reducing its manifestations, helps Mediterranean diet, is a set of French researchers from Hоpital Mondor in Creteil.
The results of their work published in the journal JAMA Dermatology.
“Eating foods included in the Mediterranean diet can help reduce the severity of psoriasis and slow down its progression,” the magazine quoted scientists.
Scientists analyzed data on health 35 735 people, of whom 3 557 suffered from psoriasis, including 878 people in a very serious manner. Observations have shown that ill, who often used the products contained Mediterranean diet, much less reported exacerbation of psoriasis, and also had more mild symptoms course of illness.
The Mediterranean diet involves the consumption of large quantities of vegetable monounsaturated fat, antioxidants and polyphenols contained in fruits and vegetables, and fiber. In addition, this diet involves limited consumption of dairy products, meat and alcohol. Preliminary studies have demonstrated that among the adherents of the Mediterranean diet severe cases of psoriasis occur on 22% less.
The creators of the work believe that this diet reduces the overall level of inflammation in the body, and it is likely that this fact contributes to reduction of symptoms of psoriasis.
